Pender County deputy dies following medical emergency

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Pender County deputy has died after suffering a heart attack at his home.

According to the sheriff’s office, Deputy Lendon Lampley experienced the medical emergency at his home in Rocky Point on Tuesday night. He was taken to the hospital in Burgaw, but did not survive.

Lampley had been with the Pender County Sheriff’s Office since January.

Following his death, fellow deputies escorted his body to a funeral home in Wallace.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
