Pender County fire crews battle early morning blaze


PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) —  According to a Pender County Fire Marshal a home in Hampstead caught fire Saturday morning. Fire Marshal Tommy Batson said the two people and their pets are safe.

Batson said the call came in around 2:30 a.m. Saturday to a home on East Creekview Drive in Hampstead. Batson said around 25 first responders from Pender County EMS and Fire, Surf City and New Hanover County Departments responded to the scene.

Batson said the fire caused extensive damage to the home, but there was no extensive damage to the second story. He also said no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and it is still under investigation.
