Pender County Humane Society hosts inaugural Brunch Fundraiser

BURGAW, NC (WWAY) — The Pender County Humane Society hosted it’s inaugural Brunch Fundraiser on Sunday.

The event was held at Bandanas American Grill. In addition to raising money, the fundraiser also gives Bandanas the chance to test out their new Sunday brunch schedule. All proceeds from the event go back to the no-kill shelter.

PCHS President John Valente said the shelter has seen an increased need in recent months.

“Now people are just bringing them up, dumping them on our doorstep,” he said. “We’re not going to turn them away, so now we have a budget for this many animals, and now it’s this many animals, and food prices are going up. Everything’s going up and people are just saying, you know, I can’t afford to feed my pet.”

Valente added the shelter is also in need of additional volunteers. If you’re interested in donating or volunteering, you can visit their website.
