RALEIGH, NC (WWAY) — A Burgaw man won $100,000 after buying a $3 Powerball ticket.

Terry Hansley bought the ticket from the Walmart on N.C. 53 East in Burgaw.

Hansley matched the numbers on four white balls and the red Powerball to win $50,000. Since he bought a Power Play ticket his prize doubled.

He claimed his winnings on Wednesday at lottery headquarters and took home $71,751.

Wednesday’s jackpot stands at $30 million annuity or $429 million in cash. The odds of winning a Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million.
