Pender County Sheriff’s Deputy accused of domestic violence

BURGAW, NC (WWAY) — A Pender County Sheriff’s Deputy has been accused of domestic violence.
A spokesman from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation says the Pender County Sheriff requested assistance from the NC SBI regarding a Pender County Sheriff’s Deputy accused of assaulting his domestic partner.
The incident occurred around 6 p.m. on Sunday, November 2.
SBI agents responded and investigated the alleged assault and arrested Deputy Jonathan Benjamin, 26, around 6 a.m. on Monday, November 3.
Benjamin is charged with one count of misdemeanor domestic assault. He was processed at the Pender County Jail and had a first appearance in court hours later.
According to the Sheriff’s Office website, a judge set his unsecured bond at $1500.00.
