Pender County town halls giving residents opportunity to learn more about 5-year strategic plan

BURGAW, NC (WWAY) — Pender County is hosting 5 town halls, giving residents a chance to learn more about the county’s 5-year strategic plan.

The first town hall was held Tuesday night in Burgaw, with another held Wednesday night in Rocky Point.

The strategic plan includes ideas being considered to support education, improve public safety, and other areas of importance.

Superintendent Brad Breedlove said there are a number of goals within the education portion of the plan.

“It’s investing in our teaching staff, looking at things like the student to counselor ratio and what can be done,” Breedlove said. “Also investing in our facilities and making sure that we’re keeping up with the capital needs of our school system. We have aging facilities all across the district.”

The last 3 town halls will be held on:

  • Thursday, October 2nd at Penderlea Auditorium;
  • Monday, October 13th at Surf City Town Hall;
  • Tuesday, October 14th at the Hampstead Annex.

All 3 meetings start at 5:30 and will include a presentation by county staff about the county’s emergency services merger.
