People visited Surf City beaches despite the weather

Surf City, NC (WWAY) — It was a rainy and windy weekend all across southeastern North Carolina.

The ocean was rough with a risk for high rip currents keeping many out of the water.

However, many visitors and residents alike came to check out the beach scene Sunday in between rain bands.

The storm brought minimal beach erosion, uncovering many sea shells and sea glass for beachcombers.

“Anyone who is on the beach tomorrow, it’s going to be a fantastic day on the beach to look for sea shells and sea glass,” said Surf City Tourism Director Allan Libby.
