WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) – It was all Cougars on the scoreboard and the base paths as South Brunswick won at Ashley 11-0 on Tuesday.

Kina Davis pitched all seven innings for the Cougars, striking out 17 batters on her way to a perfect game. Davis also one hit and RBI for the Cougars.

“Everything was on tonight,” Davis said. “It usually is, but I just took control of the mound tonight and at the plate. I came at hitters how I know I can and it really showed in the game. We’ve just been hitting the ball very good. As long as we do that on Thursday, we’ll be good.”

The win helps South Brunswick keep pace with Laney. The two teams split their two meetings this year, resulting in their only conference loss so far.

Both have one game remaining, which will be Thursday. South Brunswick will face West Brunswick while Laney will visit Topsail. A win by both the Cougars and Bucs will result in a split Mideastern Conference championship.
