Person dies from injuries after jet skis collide on NC lake

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – A 17-year-old from Raleigh died after he and his cousin collided while riding jet skis Saturday on Falls Lake in Durham County, authorities said.

The collision occurred around 5:30 p.m. in front of the Rolling View Community Center on Baptist Road.

The two jet skis collided nearly head-on, authorities said.

The teen was as transported to Duke University Medical Center with a leg and head injury and pronounced dead on arrival.

His 27-year-old cousin was uninjured in the collision.

Authorities said there were no eye witnesses to the incident but a woman nearby heard the impact and pulled the 17-year-old from the water.
