Pictures show scene after Causeway Project accident

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Crews working on the Causeway Project had a mess to clean up last night along Highway 74/76 at the Brunswick River near Leland.

A DOT spokesman said a steel beam being set up for the river dropped into the marsh. He said the top beam fell on a portable concrete barrier and damaged it.

Spokesman Brian Rick said the contractor cleaned everything up and no one was hurt. They’re still looking into why the accident happened but it did not cause any delays to the project.
