Pill trafficker receives lengthy sentence

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A man who admitted to stealing more than 11,000 pills from two Shallotte drug stores will spend at least 7.5 years in prison. Ritchie Carson could spend nearly 10 years in prison under the sentence. He’ll also pay a $100,000 fine for trafficking oxycodone.

Deputies arrested Carson last winter after surveillance video caught him using a cinder block to break into the stores.
