Pilot pavement removal project underway near downtown
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A City of Wilmington spokesman said crews are trying to figure out which technique will work to remedy asphalt issues near downtown.
Crews are working on removing the asphalt from brick streets on Red Cross Street. They are currently working on the area between 6th and 8th streets. The spokesman said the City is trying to figure out which way is the most cost-effective way to deal with the streets in the downtown area that have brick underneath the asphalt.
This week crews are using a thermal method that heads up a large area, which makes the pavement removal easier.
