Pine Valley Methodist gives out more than 3,200 meals on Christmas Eve
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Thanks to the hard work of dozens of volunteers, Thousands of people enjoyed a hot meal this holiday thanks to the hard work of dozens of volunteers.
Pine Valley Methodist Church on Shipyard Boulevard held its 18th annual Christmas Eve dinner and meal giveaway on Tuesday.
It’s a time for members and non-members to get a hot meal.
People started arriving at the church around 8:30 Tuesday morning and could take a meal or several for their family for free.
Each meal included ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, a roll and a dessert.
Pastor Kim Collins said the Church prepared more than 3,200 meals and that it means a lot to their members and volunteers to be able to share this gift with others.
“I think just hope is the biggest thing,” Collins said. “That no matter where you are in life, we just want someone to know that someone cares for you and I think that’s the biggest part is that I just want people to know that they are loved and cared for and that we’re a church that wants to care for people.”
The Church also held a sit-down dinner starting at 6 pm, which lasted for about an hour and a half before the church’s Christmas Eve services.
