Pine Valley Methodist prepares to feed thousands for Christmas Eve
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Pine Valley Methodist Church is preparing to serve thousands of people on Christmas Eve.
After more than a week of cooking, volunteers have been busy preparing meals for around 3,200 people.
The meals will be distributed to local homeless shelters, recovery houses, disabled elderly, and local nonprofits. The church will also host their own sit-down dinner at 6 p.m.
Leslie Littlefield leads the meal prep and says the church started the tradition 18 years ago.
“And then it’s grown and grown and grown since then, and we’ve added a lot of recovery houses and really anybody that calls in and there’s a need, we’ll deliver to them,” she said.
Littlefield says the preparations are made possible through the help of more than 200 volunteers.
