Planned water outage as Surf City continues hydrant replacements

SURF CITY, NC (WWAY) — As part of ongoing infrastructure improvements, the Town of Surf City Public Utilities Department will complete a series of hydrant replacements prompting a planned water outage.

The next hydrant replacement is scheduled for Thursday, January 15, 2026. Residents between 2217 S Shore Drive and 2725 S Shore Drive should expect a planned water outage from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The outage includes residents on Maritime Drive, Katelynn Drive, Abigail Court, Channel Bend, White Hills Lane, Dorthy B Sox Drive, and Sunward Place.

Once the water is restored, some residents may experience temporary water discoloration. Therefore, as a precautionary, a boil water advisory will be in effect until 4 p.m. on Friday, January 16th.
