Playoffs begin on Wednesday for Wilmington Sharks

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington Sharks clinched the #2 seed in the East Division of the Coastal Plain League on Saturday. The Peninsula Pilots clinched the #3 seed in the East Division and will face the Wilmington Sharks in the first round of the CPL Playoffs. The Pilots will host the Wilmington Sharks at War Memorial Stadium on Wednesday night before wrapping up the series at Wilmington on Thursday at Buck Hardee Field, and if necessary Friday night in Wilmington as well.

This week’s playoff schedule for the Wilmington Sharks:

Wednesday: Wilmington at Peninsula (game 1 of a best of 3 series)
Thursday: Peninsula at Wilmington (game 2 of a best of 3 series, 7pm at Buck Hardee Field)
Friday: Peninsula at Wilmington (if necessary) (game 3 of best of 3 series, 7pm at Buck Hardee Field

WILMINGTON, NC (SHARKS RELEASE) —  ​ The scene is set for Round 1 of the 2015 Coastal Plain League Petitt Cup Playoffs. The Wilmington Sharks (29-24, 15-12) have drawn the 2 seed in the CPL East, and are set to face off with the 3 seed, the Peninsula Pilots (28-24, 13-14).

​Wilmington and Peninsula split their regular season series 1-1, while the Sharks outscored the Pilots 16-12. Each of the meetings was in late July, with the most recent game being a 13-7 Sharks victory in Hampton.
​Game 1 will be on Wednesday, August 5th at War Memorial Stadium in Hampton, VA in a best of three series. Game 2 will be at the Shark Tank on Thursday, August 6th. Wilmington will host Game 3 if a rubber match is necessary.
​Please note – unused general admission tickets from the regular season can be used for admission to a playoff game. Reserved tickets from games cancelled due to weather can be exchanged for the best available ticket.
