Plea deal postponed for NHHS student charged with bringing a gun on school property
NEW HANOVER COUNTY (WWAY) — 18-year-old Elijah Lesine faced multiple charges for bringing a weapon to campus last month.
Prosecutors made a deal with his attorney to drop a stolen firearm charge but plead guilty to two misdemeanors — “carrying a concealed weapon” and “bringing a weapon onto school property.”
But they couldn’t agree on whether the 45-day suspended sentence that comes with each charge would be consolidated or served consecutively.
Judge Sandra Ray wanted the days served consecutively.
Lesine’s attorney was under the impression they were consolidated, so Lesine asked to present the plea to a different judge next Thursday, November 20th.
