Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce President retires after 17 years

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The President of the Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce is retiring today after 17 years.

Gail McCloskey said when she first moved to Carolina Beach she wanted to find a way to meet people, so she started volunteering for the chamber.

McCloskey later became the president and served for 17 years. McCloskey said she and her husband are moving to Florida tomorrow to be closer to family.
She said it is tough saying goodbye, but she will never forget the memories she has made here.

“It’s been an incredible journey,” McCloskey said. “One that I really never expected or would have imagined for myself ever. I just want to let everybody know that Pleasure Island is by far the best place to work or play.”

McCloskey said the executive director of the Chamber of Commerce Greg Reynolds will be taking her place tomorrow.
We wish you the best of luck on your next journey Gail.
