Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce releases statement on Carolina Beach MusicFest

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce has released a statement on the cancellation of a concert Sunday, June 8, 2025.
The concert was part of Carolina Beach MusicFest, a multi-day event. Saturday’s event went off without a hitch, but the weather caused issues on Sunday. The Chamber says one artist was able to perform one song before things got delayed.
Here is the full statement from the Chamber:
A community event of this scale held directly on the beach requires coordination with Carolina Beach town management & operations, Fire/EMS/Ocean Rescue and law enforcement, sound and production providers, music artists and crew.
On Sunday 6/8/25 the sound equipment set up for the concert began at 7:30 am. At 10:00am, the artists began pre-show sound checks. At 2:00pm, the first scheduled artists began their performance, with the completion of 1 song. At this time, a delay was announced to assess incoming weather threats.
Event protocol requires that the Carolina Beach Fire Department/EMS/Ocean Rescue along with the sound production provider determine if the event can safely proceed based on weather conditions. The Pleasure Island Chamber Executive Director is included in this process, but ultimately cannot make a cancellation call. Weather protocol for this (beach) venue dictates that in the event of severe weather (lightening within 8 miles, wind gusts, heavy rain, or hail) for any period of time requires the immediate removal of all stage/sound equipment, which, in this case could not be reset in time for a continuation of the planned event.
It is always a difficult decision to cancel an event and to disappoint fans, but the safety of fans, staff /volunteers and artists is always the priority. This event is not anticipated to be rescheduled for 2025. The Chamber of Commerce looks forward to hosting the event again in 2026.
The PI Chamber no-refund policy for this event is stated on the Chamber website, the Ticket Tailor event page, and the social media event page in advance of the event.
