Police chief in Sampson County town arrested on felony charges involving minor

SAMPSON COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation has arrested Newton Grove Police Chief Greg Warren on multiple felony charges.

According to the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, the agency began investigating Warren after a request for assistance from the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office regarding allegations they received.

As a result of the investigation, Warren was taken into custody and charged with seven felonies, including one count of indecent liberties with a minor, two counts of secret peeping, and four counts of possessing images derived from secret peeping.

Warren is being processed at the Sampson County Detention Center. Authorities say he is expected to have a first court appearance later this week.

The SBI says the investigation remains ongoing and no additional public information is expected at this time.
