Police: Driver found passed out, slumped over steering wheel
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police say a woman is facing several charges after another driver spotted her slumped over her steering wheel and unconscious in the turning lane of a Wilmington intersection Friday afternoon.
Wilmington Police say just before 2 p.m. Friday, they got calls from other drivers who discovered Paige Jutting, 21, passed out in her car in a lane at the intersection of Independence Boulevard and Oleander Drive. That’s where officers say another driver nearby noticed Jutting’s car starting to roll.
Police say the other driver got out of their vehicle and opened Jutting’s car door to stop it from rolling, while another driver who saw what was going on got out to stop traffic crossing over Oleander Dr. Officers say the two drivers then pulled Jutting, who was still unconscious, out of her car and called EMS for help.
When EMS arrived to the scene, police say crews had to resuscitate Jutting. That’s when officers say Jutting told them she did a shot of heroin right before driving. Jutting is in jail under $2,000 bond, charged with DWI and paraphernalia possession, among others charges.
