Police: Trio robs bicyclist at gunpoint after asking for directions
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police are investigating after they say a bicyclist was robbed at gunpoint on a Wilmington street after a trio stopped to ask him for directions.
Wilmington Police say it happened in the 600 block of Marstellar Street just before 1 a.m. Wednesday. That’s where officers say a 19-year-old was riding his bike down the street when a car pulled up beside him, and a man inside asked for directions.
Police say when the bicyclist stopped to give the directions they asked for, two men got out of the car. Officers say one of the men then pointed a silver revolver at the victim, demanding that he hand over “what he’s got.”
They say the bicyclist gave the duo his cell phone before they took off driving east on Marstellar St. Police say a female was driving the car, which is described as a four-door white sedan that appeared to be either a Buick or Mercury. WPD is still investigating.
