Police: Woman charged after leaving dog in hot car at NC aquarium

A woman from out of state was charged with misdemeanor cruelty to animals after she left her dog inside of a hot car at the North Carolina Aquarium.

Officials said that Pine Knoll Shores officers responded to the parking lot of the aquarium for a dog that was locked inside a vehicle just after 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday.

After attempts to locate the owners by aquarium staff, officers tried to unlock the vehicle with unlocking tools. Officials said they were unable to unlock the vehicle and were forced to break a window to rescue the dog.
