Woman in custody after hours-long standoff at Kure Beach home
KURE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Police say a woman is in custody after she barricaded herself for nearly 10 hours inside a Kure Beach home.
Just before 8 p.m. Sunday, Kure Beach Police received a call to service to an apartment at 225 North Fourth Avenue.
According to police, when officers met a woman at the front door they say she had a gun and ran back into the home.
Police quickly set a perimeter around the residence. Approximately 10 surrounding homes were evacuated and given shelter.
Police say the woman walked out of the home around 5:25 a.m. Monday and was arrested after a nine and half standoff with law enforcement. The woman is currently being evaluated by emergency personnel.
No injures were reported.
No word on charges at this time as the investigation is on-going.
