Poll workers see stream of voters
WILMINGTON — The polls opened at 6:30 Tuesday morning. Poll workers say they generally saw a slow, steady stream of early morning voters.
In order for you to vote Tuesday you must be a citizen of the city of Wilmington, at least 18 years old and you must already be registered.
If you're unsure whether or not you're registered you can go to New Hanover County Board of Elections web site and check. The web site will also show you the closest polling place to your home.
New Hanover County Board of Elections Chairman Margaret Haynes said, "If people are thinking it's not worth it to come out and vote and that their vote doesn't count they are very mistaken. Voting today is really important. Voting in municipal elections effects your everyday quality of life."
If you are registered you still have time to cast your ballot. The polls close until 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
