Popular discount store to close after decades

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Plans are in place to redevelop the Federal Point shopping center in Carolina Beach, but one big business will not be part of the new look.

The discount store, Maxway, will close September 8.

In January, the town of Carolina Beach approved a plan to demolish the Federal shopping center.

It will be replaced by another shopping center, anchored by a new grocery store.

The manager at Maxway says they have no plans to find a new location.
