Port City Track Club shines in National Championships


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — 19 members of the Port City Track club competed in the Hershey’s USA Track and Field Indoor National Championships this past weekend in Staten Island, NY. This 3 day competition brought together some of the top youth athletes from across the country.

The track club had 6 athletes, Da’Ziya Grady, Micah Hariston, Jenna Powe, Casper Powe, Connor Powe and Cam Clark, to finish in the top 10 of their events. Connor Powe finished in the top five, placing 4th in the 55 Meter hurdles for the boys 15-16 year old division.

“This was a great experience for the kids,” Port City Track Club Coach Rod Bell said. “They represented themselves, their families, their track club, the city of Wilmington, and the State of North Carolina very well.”
