Ports union ILA reaches tentative deal with USMX, averting strike
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — We have an update on negotiations between the International Longshoreman’s Association and the US Maritime Alliance.
ILA and the USMX have come to a tentative agreement over a six-year labor contract, averting a strike at dozens of ports on the east and gulf coasts that was set to start on January 15.
The agreement protects current ILA jobs from automation and includes pay raises for ILA members, though precise details have still not been released.
We reached out to our local ILA chapter in Wilmington.
The group was not able to comment but confirmed that leadership was still finalizing the details of the agreement.
