Post-holiday shopping at Mayfaire Town Center
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The day after Christmas often brings a mix of returns, exchanges, and a chance for people to unwind with family. At Mayfaire Town Center today, it seemed to be a little bit of both.
The shopping center was fairly busy, with many people strolling around, enjoying after-Christmas markdowns, and spending those extra Christmas gift cards and cash.
We visited several stores to see what shoppers were looking for. Employees shared that many customers weren’t just exchanging gifts, but were also searching for new items that didn’t make it under the tree this year.
Brittany Rivera, the owner of Isa Roe, said today had a special “hometown” feel.
According to Rivera, with the stress of the holidays behind us, people seemed to be shopping at a more leisurely pace.
“We have so many tourists here on vacation, but even the tourists are bringing this hometown Christmas feel, which is really nice to see after the year everybody’s had,” Rivera said. “The holidays have been a struggle—just different things—but people are just happy. It’s great weather, and it almost makes the city feel a lot smaller than it usually does, if that makes sense.”
