Poster winner announced for Seafood Blues & Jazz festival

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — A happy and calm mermaid with dark, flowing hair, and a tangerine orange tail. It’s a mythical, deep-sea fantasy that you’ll see on the posters for one of the Cape Fear’s most anticipated events.

Robert S. Knowles created the image that won for the 22nd Annual Pleasure Island Seafood Blues & Jazz Festival. Festival organizers said Knowles “wanted to explore the depths of the ocean and imagine creatures never seen by the human eye.”

Knowles, who’s from Wilmington, previously won top honors for the 2008 poster called “The Edgar and Johnny Winter Poster,” and the 2013 poster imagining Buddy Guy’s youth on the bayou.

Festival organizers said Robert will be signing posters at the festival’s Arts and Wine Garden.

Posters and T-shirts are on sale now at the Chamber offices and will be available at the Festival as long as supplies last.

The festival runs Oct. 10 and 11. For more information, click here.
