Power outage planned on Topsail Island Tuesday for 3 hours


SURF CITY, NC (WWAY) —  There will be a temporary power outage for a large part of Topsail Island and Surf City for several hours Tuesday morning.

The Town of Surf City posted a released from Jones-Onslow EMC on its Facebook Page. It said the company plans to relocate four transmission poles in the area where the new Publix is being built. In order to complete this process, we will need to have an outage on Oct. 3, 2017, at 8:00 am.

The company said power should be restored within three hours. Officials said they planned the outage during daylight hours to make the work go as fast as possible and for safer working conditions.

The affected areas include Topsail Island, from 9th Street in Surf City to the south end of the island, including East Ocean Road from Holly Ridge south to the island.
