Prayer vigil held for Isabella Strahan as she prepares for third round of chemo
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — More than 100 people gathered for a prayer vigil for a young girl battling brain cancer.
Isabella Strahan, 19, was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a rare form of brain cancer usually seen in kids between the ages of 2 and 9.
Strahan was diagnosed during her freshman year of college. She’s the daughter of former NFL star and current Good Morning America co-anchor Michael Strahan. She spent part of her childhood in Wilmington.
Strahan’s old swim coach put together the event to support Isabella as she prepares for her third round of chemotherapy at Duke next week.
Isabella’s mother Jean said the vigil means a lot to her daughter.
“So this is the first time that she has come home since she got sick. She just arrived last night. So to look out her window off her bedroom porch and see this gathering is really gonna be very emotional. She must feel very loved.”
Along with prayers, candles and floating paper lanterns were lit to support Isabella.
