President Trump visiting NC this weekend

GREENSBORO, NC (WFMY) — Donald Trump, the 45th President of the United States, is making a stop in Greensboro this Saturday, Oct. 7. The Greensboro Police Department confirmed the visit Thursday morning.

President Trump’s visit adds to an already busy weekend as NC A&T is having its annual homecoming, also known as ‘Greatest Homecoming On Earth.’

The police department is working out plans to assist with security during President Trump’s visit, in addition to providing security and traffic help for events surrounding NC A&T’s homecoming. Thousands are expected in town for the homecoming parade, football game and concert, which will all take place, at different times, Saturday.

Guilford County Sheriff BJ Barnes was invited to attend the fundraiser while in Greensboro. Barnes says nearly 100 deputies will be working with the secret service and Greensboro police to provide security for the President. Trump will arrive in Greensboro around 5 p.m. at Piedmont Triad International Airport.

Rockingham County Sheriff Sam Page and Alamance County Sheriff Terry Johnson were invited to greet President Trump when he arrives, but won’t attend dinner.

WFMY News 2 hasn’t confirmed the exact nature of President Trump’s visit. No one we spoke with Thursday would say, on the record, the purpose of his visit, including the White House and Secret Service.

We reached out to several Republican lawmakers to see if they plan to be with the President for his visit.
