Preview of the Cape Fear Book Festival

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) –The New Hanover County Public Library is offering a sneak peek at a new two-day event designed for book lovers and aspiring writers.

On Friday, from 5 to 8 p.m., the library will host its “Cover to Cover” book sale.

The event will feature 50 local authors from Pender, New Hanover, and Brunswick counties, who will be available to showcase and discuss their work with attendees.

Then, on Saturday, the library will hold its “WriteOn!” writing conference, giving readers—and especially aspiring writers—the opportunity to connect on the third floor.

The conference will feature keynote speakers offering valuable advice and resources for those dreaming of writing a book but unsure of where to start.

Local author Wiley Cash gave a preview of his discussion:

“You know, we all say, ‘I’ve got a great idea for a book.’ You’ve got an idea, but what do you do with the idea? How do you flesh it out? How do you build a narrative? How do you create characters? How do you take an idea from your brain to the page to, you know, a finished book? That’s what I’m going to focus on.”

All of these events are free and family-friendly.

The library encourages those attending the writing conference to register online.
