Pro-Palestine supporters protest President Biden’s visit
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — While President Joe Biden came to the Port City to discuss clean drinking water, a group of pro-Palestinian protestors gathered to protest Biden’s visit.
More than 30 protestors gathered outside the Wilmington Convention Center, calling on President Biden to order a ceasefire in Gaza.
The group began their march from Thalian Hall, shouting chants against US involvement in the conflict.
Protestor Meg Crenshaw said there is an irony to Biden’s visit to Wilmington.
“I think Biden is here to call for clean drinking water in the city of Wilmington and yes we absolutely need clean drinking water in the city of Wilmington,” Crenshaw said. “But our right to clean drinking water should not come before the right to clean drinking water for Palestinians in Gaza.”
The start of May marks 8 months since the Israel-Hamas conflict began in October.
