Promoting the area for business is on the mind of one local non-profit

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – They say they want to find a way to bring more industry to New Hanover County. A non-profit economic development group hosted those in the local business community on how to do just that.

The Cape Fear Economic Development Council wants to know how the Highway 421 corridor can be improved to entice more businesses. The industrial corridor now has the connection to I-140.

Public officials along with general business stakeholders gave their thoughts on what sustainable business practices should come to the area.

CFEDC hosted this event to foster a better understanding of the Highway 421 corridor on the west side of the Cape Fear River and gather participants’ aspirations and priorities for the corridor.

“We have assets and we have available land,” says board of directors member and owner of C3 Associates Clark Henry. “And I think we have a lack of promotion for our region in general compared to other places. We’re trying to help fill that void a little bit but really help encourage the people, the cities, the counties, that are doing that to kind of expand their capacity and deepen their reach and do that better.”

The group plans to take input from this evening and draw up proposals to share in front of local governments to look at the better market the corridor.
