Public comment opens for new NC-SC parkway

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The public comment period is now open for a massive highway project connecting North and South Carolina. 

The North Carolina Department of Transportation and the South Carolina Department of Transportation announced the Carolina Bays Parkway. 

The new parkway will strengthen highway connections between the port cities of Wilmington and Charleston. 

It will begin on SC 31 in Horry County and will end at US 17 near Shallotte. 

There are currently seven different proposals on the table. 

A public hearing will be held on September 29 at the Sea Trail Convention Center in Sunset Beach.
