Public Safety Day held at Fort Fisher

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The Carolina Beach and Kure Beach Police Departments held a Public Safety Day festival Saturday at Fort Fisher Air Force Recreation Area.

The purpose is to help connect the community to resources they may not know are available within New Hanover County.

Local police, fire, EMS, federal agencies, and military branches were all on hand sharing what they do.

“It’s a family,” Corporal Stephen Baize, Carolina Beach Police K-9, said. “No matter if it’s our organization, agency, New Hanover County Sheriff’s department, Wilmington, UNCW, it doesn’t matter, the resources are endless and it’s a brotherhood, it’s family, and we all look after one another.”

The Carolina Police Beach K-9 department demonstrated to visitors the importance of the using dogs while on calls.

Festivities included a Kids Zone with games and activities, food trucks. Safe Kids Cape Fear was on site offering free car seat safety checks.

Organizers hope to continue to have this event in years to come.
