Rabon takes oath, makes history
BOLIVIA, NC (WWAY) — History today in North Carolina’s 8th Senate district. Sen. Bill Rabon was sworn into office at the Brunswick County Court House.
Rabon is the first Republican to serve the district, which includes Brunswick, Columbus and Pender Counties, in more than 100 years. The veterinarian replaces R.C. Soles, who served the district for 34 years.
Sen. Rabon said today was probably the biggest day of his life. He thinks he got where he did because of all the support he received.
“I don’t think anyone that has every run for state senate has had more support and more people on their team working with them than I have,” Rabon said. “It’s unbelievable. It’s humbling, and it’s wonderful. It’s a great feeling, and it tells me that I have a big job to do.”
Sen. Rabon will make his way to Raleigh later this month. He said the first thing on his list of things to do is create jobs for North Carolina.
