Rain along with freezing temperatures headed for the Cape Fear

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Rain along with near freezingRain temperatures are making their way to the Cape Fear region. We’ve been having some mild weather conditions but starting Friday it can be icy in some areas.

Some schools in the area are taking extra precautions by closing or either starting late.

A big concern when there’s rain and temperatures close to freezing are slick road conditions, this is something to look out for Friday.

This is especially true for our bridges that can ice over and freeze quicker than roads.

In anticipation of this winter storm Governor Pat McCrory has issued a state of emergency for North Carolina.

He said different areas of the state will have different weather conditions like snow, sleet, rain and ice. He said everyone should be prepared for whatever type of weather we get.

“There’s a lot of uncertainty with this storm so we will have to see what Mother Nature brings, in the mean time we all need to be ready and pay close attention to the forecast,” said McCrory.

A good way for you to get ahead of this storm is to keep an eye on the forecast with our Storm Track 3 Weather Team.
