Rain doesn’t stop the Street Turkeys of Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)– The Street Turkeys of Wilmington have been at The Landing in Wrightsville Beach all day collecting food for the food banks that serve central and eastern North Carolina.

Event coordinator Jai Isear says the rain did not stop the donations from coming in.
Isear says the food from this donation serves four counties and they serve about 67,000 people that don’t know where their next meal comes from.

“Our goal is to collect as much food and money as we can,” Isear said. “We had the equivalent of 55,200 some meals last year. So we’d like to beat that, but most importantly help out those in our community that are suffering right now that are hungry and homeless.”

They will be at The Landing and the following Harris Teeter locations:
Lumina Commons (1940 Eastwood Rd, Wilmington), Long Leaf Mall (2800 S. College Rd,
Wilmington) and Oak Landing Shopping Center (8260 Market St, Porter’s Neck)
