Raleigh police officer sues to regain job
RALEIGH, NC (AP) — The former president of the Raleigh police union has sued the city, saying he was wrongly fired earlier this year.
Former Sgt. Rick Armstrong’s lawsuit names Police Chief Harry Dolan and the city of Raleigh as defendants.
Armstrong was fired in July after an internal affairs investigation into allegations that some officers had sex with a woman described as a prostitute. Armstrong says he was cleared of having sex with a prostitute.
He says police leaders conducted an 18-month investigation that centered on his friendship with another woman he described as a native of El Salvador in the country illegally.
Dolan said it would be inappropriate for him to comment.
The suit seeks to have Armstrong returned to the force with back pay and other unspecified damages.
