RCC needs help choosing mascot for upcoming athletics program

LUMBERTON, NC (WWAY) — Robeson Community College is inviting students, faculty, staff, and community members to help choose the name of its soon-to-be-launched athletics program’s mascot.
“Mascots are synonymous with college athletics and become an important symbol that is representative of the institution and an integral part of the campus culture,” RCC President Melissa Singler said in a statement. “It’s important for branding, it’s important for creating team spirit, and it’s important for student life.”
Those interested in contributing can submit their suggestions by visiting Robeson Community College’s athletics page and clicking on the survey tab at the bottom. The survey will remain open until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20.
“We value your input on this historical moment in naming a mascot for Robeson Community College,” Singler added. “We know that someone in our community has the perfect idea for our mascot, and we cannot wait to hear your suggestions.”
RCC’s athletics program, which will include men’s baseball and women’s soccer, is set to begin in late 2025.
