Macon wins Carolina Beach mayoral race

CAROLINA BEACH — The mayor’s race in Carolina Beach is finally over. Joel Macon has been christened the official winner.

A three-hour recount was completed late Thursday afternoon.

Macon beat Alan Gilbert by ten votes, which confirmed the results of Tuesday’s canvass.

The recount cost $140, which will be billed to the town of Carolina Beach.
