Recovery efforts underway after vehicle drives off Virginia Beach Fishing Pier

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (13NEWSNOW). — A large police presence remains at the Virginia Beach Fishing Pier after a vehicle went into the water Saturday morning.

At around 6:50 a.m., Virginia Beach police and fire crews received the call reporting the incident at the 14th Street pier. A spokesperson for the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) said the car came off at Atlantic Avenue before driving down the boardwalk and pier.

“The vehicle just drove into the boardwalk, onto the pier end then into the water,” said Jude Brenya with the VBPD.

“The vehicle is at the bottom of the ocean,” Brenya added.
