Reigning champs WCA open season with 43-42 edge over CFA

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — Reigning NCCSA girls basketball champions WCA opened their title defense with a 43-42 home win over CFA on Tuesday.

The Patriots led by eight entering the 4th quarter, but the Hurricanes stormed back with 21 points to match their total through the first three quarters combined only to come up one point short.

Mallory Deutsch led WCA with ten points. Ava Gray and Taylor Pierce each added another nine.
