Rep. Cawthorn, NC lawmakers push to end Daylight Saving Time with new bill

CHARLOTTE, NC (WPDE) — North Carolina Rep. Madison Cawthorn introduced the Uniform Time Act on March 12 to make Daylight Saving Time permanent.

“No more pointless clock adjustments,” Rep. Cawthorn tweeted on Sunday. “The days of adjusting your clock are over!”

similar bill was also introduced by N.C. Rep. Jason Saine on Monday.

“An act to designate the time zone of North Carolina and to adopt daylight saving time year-round if authorized by Congress,” the bill states.

However, even if the bill passes into law it would only go into effect if Congress passed a law of its own allowing states to do it.

Most of the United States started Daylight Saving Time on Sunday and it will last until Nov. 7 this year.
