Rep. Chris Millis gives reason for his resignation from legislature

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – In ten days state Representative Chris Millis will be leaving office.

He talked for the first time today about his decision to resign.

He discussed it on “The Chad Adams show” this morning.  Millis was finishing his sixth year and third term in the general assembly.  His district was recently redrawn when lawmakers had to renew maps following a court order.

Millis says the decision comes because he wants to spend more time with family.

“It’s strictly about face time with my children and the wife. Everything is still on the home front and I want to keep it that way. It was really good timing at this point to transition out after a full and hard fought effective service throughout the long session.”

Millis says friction with leadership has nothing to do with his early departure. He believes executive committees in the district will elect an interim Representative after he is gone. His last day is the 15th.
