Resident escapes New Hanover County house fire

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Crews responded to a house fire this afternoon on Sapling Circle in New Hanover County.

One person was inside the house at the time the fire started. That person was able to get out of the house safely.

There were no reported injuries.

At this time crews are considering the house to be a complete loss. The cause is still under investigation.

“We will probably be here for several hours,” said Captain Ryan Merrill with the New Hanover County Fire Department. “The investigation will definitely run at least into this evening if not continue into tomorrow.”

Merrill added that to his knowledge the fire did not affect any of the neighboring homes.
