Residents gave feedback on Oak Island’s comprehensive plan at its open house
Some plans include the construction of more sidewalks, implementing public transportation, and beach re-nourishment ideas.
BRUNSWICK COUNTY (WWAY)–In Brunswick County, Oak Island residents got a glimpse Wednesday night of some infrastructure improvements and projects the town hopes to complete soon.
The open house was held at town hall, and information highlighting various improvement projects was displayed throughout the room. Some include the construction of more sidewalks, implementing public transportation, and beach re-nourishment ideas. Greg Feldman is the project manager with “WithersRavenel.” He says the meeting was an opportunity to update residents on the town’s comprehensive land use plan. Scott and Nancy Mcmurray say they’re happy to hear about some of the proposed improvements.
“With every growing community there’s this balance between preservation and growth. So, I think the material that was displayed this evening and we’re built upon feedback from the community, kind of exemplified that idea,” Feldman said.
“Nobody wanted to spend money and I think that now it’s finally catching up. We’re grateful for that because there are a lot of things that need to be updated and improved as far as appearances and the main drags,” Nancy Mcmurray said.
Residents were also able to leave additional feedback on the material presented. The next open house meeting will be in June.
